August is the perfect month to enjoy a day trip to a variety of Oregon destinations!  Our real estate agents have more details on the day trips that you can take from Albany and Corvallis, including the time that it takes to reach each destination.

Looking for a fun day trip for the whole family? The excellent Oregon Coast Aquarium can be found in Newport, 60 miles (75 minutes) from Albany and 48 miles (58 minutes) from Corvallis. The Oregon Coast Aquarium offers both indoor and outdoor exhibits, including a great Discovery Zone for kids that blends education with entertainment. Outdoors, you'll find cool exhibits like the Seabird Aviary and Octopus Cave. • Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area – 750 NW Lighthouse Dr., Newport, OR 97365
Love historic lighthouses? The Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area has two lighthouses for you to discover, each with its own unique history and delightful design. The natural beauty around both lighthouses is stunning to see, and there's also a Visitor Center where you can learn all about the area. Both the Yaquina Head and Yaquina Bay lighthouses were built in the 1870s and still operate to this day. You'll find both lighthouses about 60 miles (75 minutes) from Albany and 48 miles (58 minutes) from Corvallis.

  • Newport Historic Bayfront – 250-300 SW Bay Blvd., Newport, OR 97365
Located the same distance from Albany and Corvallis as the other great Newport attractions we've covered so far, the Newport Historic Bayfront is your destination for shopping, dining, sightseeing, and more. Visit the quaint collection of locally owned dockside shops, dine on fresh, local seafood at waterfront restaurants, spend time by the docks watching the commercial fishing fleet in action, or simply find a place to soak in the scenery.

  • Cobble Beach – Newport, OR 97365
Also located in Newport, Cobble Beach is a fantastic place to visit if you love spending time by the water or you (or your kids!) love seeing the eclectic collection of creatures that call Oregon's coast home. The beach is made up of larger rocks rather than sand, and low tides reveal many marine creatures that call the unique ecosystem home. It's also a great place for nature photography, especially around sunrise or sunset.
