If you love hiking along the river, the Albany Riverfront Hike features a connected trail system that allows you to hike along an extensive stretch of Albany's riverfront. The trails add up to 6.2 miles in total, are considered family-friendly, and are fairly easy to hike. The trail system also connects to some of Albany's most popular parks.

While the Talking Water Gardens are artificially constructed wetlands, they quickly became a vibrant hub of nature and a thriving wetland habitat. The trail system here is excellent for anyone who loves spotting wildlife and spending time near the water in a different way. It's free to visit and open to the public every day, from sunrise to sunset.

Calloway Creek Trail – Corvallis, OR

Oregon State University manages several public natural areas, including Peavy Arboretum, where you'll find two trails highlighted here. First up is the Calloway Creek Trail, which winds for about 2.5 miles through the forest and over footbridges. The trail, popular with runners as well, typically takes less than an hour to complete.

Peavy Arboretum Loop Hike – Corvallis, OR

For shorter hikes, try the Peavy Arboretum Loop Hike, which features three different loop trails adding up to 3.2 miles in total. The three trails, which all connect, are the Firefighter Memorial Trail, Forest Discovery Trail, and Woodland Trail. Each trail offers something different, along with a variety of native plants, trees, and wildlife to see.

McDowell Creek Falls Trail – Lebanon, OR

Address: 43170 McDowell Creek Drive, Lebanon, OR 97355

Located within McDowell Creek Falls County Park and rated at moderate difficulty, the McDowell Creek Falls Trail is one of Lebanon's most popular places for a hike. The trail is about 1.6 miles long, featuring views of Royal Terrace Falls and Majestic Falls. The difficulty rating comes mostly from occasional muddiness, but the trail is considered family-friendly and easy to hike in good conditions.

North Shore and Island Loop Trail Walk – Lebanon, OR

Address: 3597 S. Santiam Highway, Lebanon, OR 97355

Cheadle Lake is a beautiful spot for a hike, and you'll find two well-maintained trails near the lake and Cheadle Park that make up the North Shore and Island Loop Trail Walk. The out-and-back North Shore Trail is 2.46 miles, with about half of it along the lake. The Island Loop Trail is a 1.1-mile loop with scenic lakefront views and multiple routes to try.
